This tool is intended as an aid for recruitment staff at schools and other educational establishments to help determine if a particular role is eligible for an enhanced DBS check, including whether or not it is eligible for barred list checks.
Points to remember:
It is important that the role you are assessing is clearly defined and that you only consider activities which fall within the role description.
You will need to identify if the role involves working with children, vulnerable adults, or both. If both, you can assess the work with children and vulnerable adults separately and combine the results.
There are situations where an activity is not eligible for an enhanced check even though it might otherwise be eligible.
